Wooden Pole Thief Leaves Empty Handed

Police advice after failed burglary in Grove Place

Last Friday, at 3:53am, police were called to a report of an attempted burglary at an address on Grove Place, W3.

During the incident an unidentified suspect attempted to steal a handbag left in the hallway using a wooden pole put through the letter box.

The suspect eventually left the scene after being disturbed by the residents of the property who discovered the incident and called the police.

Acton Central Safer Neighbourhoods Team have carried out a Crime Prevention Survey and distributed crime prevention leaflets among the residents of neighbouring properties.

A Police spokesman said: “We urge Ealing residents to speak to their local Safer Neighbourhoods Teams for an advice on personal safety and home security improvements." (see box, right for more information).
