17-Year-Old is Acton's Local Hero

After stepping in to help PCSO under attack

On Monday 15th March at around 12:45pm PC 217XB Fai Li was on patrol in Acton High Street after having been called by a member of the public to a disturbance.

On her arrival she was confronted by a man who was very agitated and who was arguing with a PCSO in the middle of the road. PC Li attempted to calm the man down by giving him verbal instructions. The man then attacked the officer striking her twice in the face. A violent struggle then followed as the officer attempted to arrest the man.

A large crowd had gathered. A bystander, Matthew Creeber, stepped in to assist the officer in detaining the man. This young man showed no regard for his own safety and assisted in physically restraining the male allowing the officer to place hand-cuffs on him.

Matthew stepped into help whilst numerous other people just stood and watched.

His actions prevented the officer receiving further injuries and ensured that the suspect could not make his escape.

A Police spokesman said: "When you also take into account that Matthew is 17 years old it makes his actions all that more impressive."
