Armed Police Raid House in Avenue Gardens

Man chased out of Acton Town Station after being found with gun

Two units of armed police were involved in an operation to detain a man who had been spotted carrying a firearm at Acton Town station. Reports to ActonW3.com from Acton Residents were received yesterday morning after police armed with machine guns were seen in Avenue Road and Avenue Gardens.

The incident occurred at 11.33am yesterday (Tuesday, July 17th). During a routine stop by British Transport Police, the youth dropped the gun and fled the station. The officers chased him along Bollo Bridge Road and into Osborne Road and called for armed assistance from the Metropolitan Police.

Twenty minutes later the man was located at an address in Avenue Gardens and road blocks were put in place around the area. Local residents report seeing police officers armed with machine guns at the scene.

At 12.26pm armed officers entered the address and a further firearm was discovered. The roads were reopened soon after the incident.

An 18 year old man was arrested and charged with firearms offences. He is due to appear at Ealing Magistrates court today.
