Area appears to have escaped the rise in infection seen elsewhere
Test and Trace
The latest data published on coronavirus infections suggests that the Acton area appears to have an exceptionally low level of cases at the moment.
The figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) from the 27 August to 2 September show that for each part of Acton there were between 0-2 infections. The ONS divide the country into ‘Middle Super Output Areas’ (MSOAs) of roughly equal population size.
This is in contrast to other areas of London which have seen spikes in infection. For nearby Chiswick there were 20 new cases identified during the week.
A general trend for cases to increase has prompted the government to issue new more stringent guidelines on social distancing and the leader of Ealing Council, Julian Bell has asked for greater efforts to be made by local people to combat the virus.
There has been a more moderate increase in cases in Ealing borough with just 11 reported on Wednesday 9 September compared to a daily peak of 45 back in April. However this does represent an increase from July when on some days there were no cases at all.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.
Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more.
However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.
