Garden Fete and Dog Show a Huge Success

Sunday's fete raised over £600 for the Community Garden

There was a resounding 'woof' of approval for the Community Garden Fete held at the Community Garden and in Chaucer Road last Sunday.

A fabulous number of yummy cakes was available to buy, as well as a bottle tombola, raffle, bookstall with the most learned collection of titles ever seen this far away from the Bodleian Library, face-painting and a well-organised and enjoyable dog show.

The winning dog, Ben the spaniel, can be seen (right) being congratulated by his owner Ellen. Ben is owned by Sarah, Darren, Ellen and Molly  Bailes who were delighted with their dog's success.

Olive a miniature schnauzer, owned by Rachel and Jonathan, Alexander, Tom and Flora Rugman, came second.

None of the dogs was disappointed as they were each awarded a bundle of delicious dog-treats. One also helped herself to some cake which was possibly not correct etiquette for behaviour at a dog-show.

The show raised a very respectable £600 for the community garden.
