Acton Arts Festival Diary
Acton Arts Forum is planning an Acton Arts Festival for the spring
The festival will take the form of:
Acton
Literary Festival in March
Lebanese
Literary Festival with special guest appearance by Jad El Hage and
his Shepherds Bush based novel ‘The Last Migration’,
Belly dancing and Lebanese food, free public event taking place at Acton
Library on
Saturday 20th March 7.30 pm .
Poetry Slam with lively poetry courtesy of the Just Write Poets, taking place at Acton Community Theatre (above the West London Trade Union Club, 33, High Street, Acton), on Saturday 20th March, 7.30 pm .
Acton Visual Arts Festival in April
Local artists, painters, sculptors, crafts-people and art students will be exhibiting their work at the Expressive Arts Centre Drama Studio in Acton High School, Gunnersbury Avenue, Acton. Private View on Friday 16th April, and Public Exhibition on Saturday 17th April.
Acton Performing Arts Festival in May
Acton’s Performing
Artists will take to the stage at Priory Community Centre on
Saturday 15th May, workshops and taster sessions during the afternoon,
and in the evening a showcase of dance, music and live performances from
Acton’s best.
Satellite Arts Events in Acton:
Throughout the Festival there will be a variety of other Arts Events and activities taking place in Acton, including:
· The unveiling of Acton’s new Public Art in Churchfield Road on 20th February at 3.30pm to open the pristine piece created by Mohammad Sheibani, followed by a reception in The Blue Room opposite.

St. Dunstan’s Church celebrate 125th Anniversary
with a Leap Year’s Day Recital, Grieg to Gershwin, Mozart to Misty.
Sunday 29th February at 6pm, Friars Place Lane.
·
Children’s Fairy Party at Acton Library on
Wednesday 24th March 3.30-5.30pm, with fairy tales, fairy food and fairy
fun.
· APPLE Children’s Art Workshops and Exhibition at the Art Block, East Acton Lane, on Saturday 17th April.
·
Trackside Gallery, on Churchfield Road (beside the railway) will
be holding an
Arts Fest Exhibition in April.
·
Dance Carib celebrates at Acton Vale Community Centre, off Beech
Avenue, with performance and party night from
7 – 10.30 pm on Saturday 22nd May
·
International Food Festival in May on Churchfield Road.

· Oberon Theatre Company’s ‘The Emigrants’ by Slavomir Mrozek on 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19 June at WLTUC.
