Woman Almost Knocked Flat by Heron

Large bird was feeding on frogs in Acton Park

A woman contacted us this morning to tell us she had been shocked and very nearly knocked to the ground after having disturbed a heron. The bird was enjoying a breakfast frog on what she called the "mud puddle" in Acton Park.

She told us: "I was doing my morning exercise, and was totally amazed to see a heron in Acton Park. It was so close as it took off in a most ungainly fashion.

"I could clearly see the disappointed look in its eye as it was forced to abandon its breakfast."

She added: "I could have put my hand up, grabbed it and cooked it for my lunch."

Herons are thought to be relatively new visitors to Acton Park.
