Action Acton Gets Government Grant

Home Office awards local charity money for immigrant integration

Action Acton, everyone's favourite local charity-social enterprise-regional development-thing has been awarded a £450,000 grant from the Home Office.

The charity-thing, based on Crown Street, made a bid to the European Integration Fund, which seeks to promote the integration of non-EU immigrants (giving it a rather confusing name).

It won the bid, and will now receive £150,000 a year for three years. They intend to spend that money on classes, guidance, training and IT support for local immigrants from places like India, Africa and South America.

The job's not done yet though - Action Acton are still looking for another £50,000 a year to make everything they've planned happen.
