Concern is growing following an increase in reports of teen crime in both Acton and Ealing.

With schools now back after the summer there have been a number of incidents highlighted on social media pages and reported to the police.

On Friday (20 September)a teenager was mugged on Churchfield Road by two youths on a moped. On Horn Lane on Monday ( 23/09) a 12-year-old was reportedly threatened and told he would be stabbed unless he handed over his airpods. Also, later on the same day a 16 year old was told to hand over his phone and attacked by a group of youths in Acton Park.

Meanwhile similar crimes are being reported in Ealing; one in Hanwell Park with a group stealing a bike and in the Ealing Broadway shopping centre when a 12-year-old was set on by two 17-19-year olds on electric scooters, who attempted to march him to a cash machine, he fortunately escaped into a nearby pub and was helped by a customer.

In April concerned residents met with local council representatives and police in Northfields in W5 after a spate of youth crime incidents in the local parks. This led to a (temporary) increase in police numbers in the area.

Police say ''Street crime is often opportunistic, so making yourself less of a target, moving with purpose and being aware of your surroundings will go a long way to keeping you safe.''

They advise vigilance and suggest children hide phones and expensive earphones.
