A company offering tutoring services is currently fitting out a former pub premises in Acton with a view to a launch in September.

Prime Tuition which already has four other ‘campuses’ across London is planning to move into the site formerly occupied by the Belvedere at 106-112 Acton High Street.

This will prove disappointing to those hoping for the return of a licensed premises and the reversal of the steady flow of pub closures across the area. The former home of The Aeronaut, which closed around the same time as The Belvedere remains vacant.

An application (244044FUL) was submitted last November submitted to Ealing Council by an Isle of Man based company, Titan Realty Limited, for a change of use on the site which allowed other types of businesses, including educational (Class F1) to take up both the ground floor and first floor space. This application was approved this April.

The pub, which was popular with the Polish community, closed its doors at the beginning of February last year. The lease for the ground floor of 5016 sq ft had been advertised at £150,000 by Jenkins Law. At the time of the closure, it was reported that the freehold with vacant possession of the pub site as well as the upper floor which used to house a gym was being offered for £2.1 million plus VAT.

Prime Tuition, which offers academic support to students across primary, secondary, and A-Level stages, is repurposing the building to serve as its new tuition centre. The company provides tailored educational resources and tutoring services, and its expansion into Acton is part of a broader effort to increase access to structured learning outside of school hours.

The conversion of the former pub into an educational facility involved internal refurbishment to create classrooms and study spaces, while retaining the building’s external character. The centre is expected to operate during weekday afternoons and evenings, as well as weekends, offering a range of subjects and exam preparation services.
