Acton Park To Get Street Lighting

Success following petition to ensure safety on the main path through the park

A petition to get lighting in Acton Park has been succesful and new lamps will be installed by spring next year.

The aim of the petition’s sponsor Maureen Colledge was to ensure that parents, children, commuters and local people can walk through the park safely.

An Ealing Council spokesperson said,
“Following a proposal from Churchfield Community Association to light a pathway in Acton Park, the East Acton Ward Forum has agreed to allocate £34,000 towards this project.

“There will be eight street lamps installed and the lighting will operate between October-March at dawn and at dusk to reflect the park’s opening and closing times so that parents, children, commuters and other local residents can walk through safely. Installation is scheduled to be completed by March 2020.”

The pathway runs between East Churchfield Road and The Vale, adjacent to Ark Byron Academy School in Acton, and is used by parents collecting children from school as well as commuters between Acton Central Station and buses on Uxbridge Road.

The proposal was published on the council’s website for community-led projects www.dosomethinggood.org.uk.
