Jubilee Plans at Local Sports and Social Club


Weekend of fun filled activities

Gunnersbury Triangle Sports and Social Club, close to Acton Town tube station is already getting into the swing for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this year with a whole weekend of fun activities planned. From a sing-along of popular Cockney songs to egg and spoon races and a hog roast, it promises to be a weekend packed with fun.

On the Saturday 2nd June there will be a sports day for all ages and abilities, spectators are very welcome. when non-members can try their hand at tennis, bowls, karate or fitness training. During the day there will be a delicious hog roast to keep the energy levels up in both the participants and their flag wavers. All houses on the Triangle Estate will be entered into a competition to find the best garden with prizes handed out in the afternoon. Following a hard day on the space hoppers you can dance the night away fuelled with a hot spicy Chilli!

On Sunday 3rd there will be a street party, a scrumptious bring and share lunch, a fun quiz, and cake competition, followed by a ‘Cockney-style’ knees-up and sing-along. , The day will conclude with an auction offering great prizes to raise funds for the refurbishment of the Club and a patriotic sing-a-long with a ‘Cockney-style’ knees-up. There will be plenty of activities organised for children as well as live music.

The club boasts six outdoor tennis courts, a bowling green, snooker room and a large hall for fitness training, karate and yoga. This will be followed by a delicious hog roast and a best garden competition for local residents

The jubilee weekend is sponsored by estate agents Winkworths and Fish and Chip retailers Whitestone & Partners.

It promises to be a fun weekend and everyone is welcome, members and non-members.
