The latest phase of the Acton Gardens development has been given approval by Ealing Council.

It will be the eighth phase of the scheme and will include 336 mixed-tenure homes, comprising one, two, three and four-bedroom apartments, houses and maisonettes providing social rent, shared ownership and private sale homes.

The development is a joint venture between Countryside and Housing Association L&Q with the design carried out by architectural firm Stitch.

The intention is to link the Acton Gardens Community Centre with the newly completed phase 7.1 to the north.

This will require the construction of a new road linking Bollo Bridge Road and Avenue Road to the north.

The developers say their design has prioritised the pedestrian experience, focusing on landscaping and a pedestrian-friendly street layout.

Acton Gardens is a 52-acre comprehensive redevelopment of the former South Acton estate with £800million being spent to create 3,463 new housing units of which 50% will be classed as affordable. The developers say that there will be more social rent homes on the estate than before the project started and that at the beginning only 20% of social housing tenants wanted to move into the new scheme but this has increased to 94% in the latest phases.

Daniel King, Managing Director, Partnerships West London and Thames Valley, Countryside, said: “This is a key part of the Acton Gardens Masterplan which enables additional social infrastructure and connectivity throughout the development. We are eager to commence works and look forward to continuously working with the local community and our partners, Ealing Council and L&Q, to provide an additional 336 high-quality new homes across both phases.”

Darren Parker, Director of Project Management and Development at L&Q said, “Working with Countryside, our aim from the start of this project has been to work with the community to create an inclusive neighbourhood where people can afford to live. We're proud that this phase will provide a mix of social rent, shared ownership, and private sale homes, for new and existing residents, alongside a new road, walking routes and landscaping improvements for people to use and enjoy.”
